Message from OSGATA President Re: Lawsuit against Monsanto

From President Jim Gerritsen,

“Today is Independence Day for America.  Today we are seeking protection from the Court and putting Monsanto on notice.  Monsanto’s threats and abuse of family farmers stops here.  Monsanto’s genetic contamination of organic seed and organic crops ends now.  Americans have the right to choice in the marketplace – to decide what kind of food they will feed their families – and we are taking this action on their behalf to protect that right to choose.  Organic farmers have the right to raise our organic crops for our families and our customers on our farms without the threat of invasion by Monsanto’s genetic contamination and without harassment by a reckless polluter. Beginning today, America asserts her right to justice and pure food.”

This is great news, Jim. Congrats to OSGATA for challenging Monsanto’s attempts to dominate the industrial agricultural system at the expense of the organic growers who are producing better food using sustainable methods. –Cheryl Long, Mother Earth News

  2. Robert Crowell says:

Monsanto needs to be stopped. They are attempting food control. This is real form of terrorism.

  3. Angie O' says:

This is such wonderful news!! Thank you for fighting for us!

  4. michael Todd says:

I stand behind you 100% Keep me informed on what I can do to help. This must be stopped..

  5. It’s about time that something is done about Monsanto…, period!

I’ve never quite understood how they could get away with a lawsuit for patent infrigement against farmers. There is NO WAY that cross contamination is avoidable! As evidenced in the movie, “Food, Inc,” Monsanto is clearly out to destroy small farmers through crop contamination and litigation. To actually get away with telling farmers that they cannot save their seeds is ridiculous!

We need swift and complete action NOW, leaving no stone unturned and no loopholes for them to sneak back through.

They have set their sights on third world countries now because hunger runs rampant there. Mexico’s heirloom corn crops are also under threat of extinction by Monsanto’s GMO corn.

Monsanto is out to control the world’s food supply. In doing so it will continue to poison this planet and kill people with poisoned water and soil, contaminated fish and wildlife and the unknown effects of GMO foods.

We cannot let this happen! I urge E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E to do what they can to help the organic and small farmers win this suit!

You need to put a link here so that people can link your suit to thier facebook page. This could get the word out that you are really doing this and help you raise money for you suit. Also you need a section so that people can volunteer to help you get awareness out about your organization as well as raising money to help you fight the monster Monsanto.

  7. BradlyB says:

Finally, a spark of hope. I fully support your effort against the onslaught of Monsanto and saving our food. I hope that this giant is taken down so us, our children and their future children will never have to worry about what is in what they are eating.

  8. WILLIAM HOLM says:

The top executives of very large corporations have a tendency to slide into a condition that I call: “Extreme Arrogance”. Their organization is very large and they have access to large sums of money which translates into power. The swelling of their heads leads them to think that they can do anything they want to, no matter who they hurt. They become like someone who is head of the Mafia in a large U.S. city who thinks he can move city officials around like ponds on a chess board. However, in the book of Proverbs, it says the “Pride goes before destruction and haughtiness before a fall.” Wow, what an incredible warning!

  9. Jane Smith says:

PTL! It’s about time Monsanto is held accountable. Really what they are trying to do to this country is kill us off slowly but surely with GMO products which are truly GARBAGE to the human and animal body. When will the USA government and congress (shame on them, shame on them, shame on them) and the FDA stand up for the American citizen and not corrupt corporate American mainly the devilish Monsanto Corp. “They” should all be put in prision and while there made to eat all the poisioned food they have given to this country in GMO products until their bodies waste away from the GMO food they say is safe.

Hi. The website looks good, and thanks very much for taking a leadership role in this endeavor. I am involved as a plaintiff in this suit, but as yet am not being very active. Best Wishes, Douglas Baty/ Wild Plum Farm. Dixon, Montana.

  11. Ginger says:

When and where is this going to take place? Can the public attend? We need to take a stand when it comes to the right to decent food. The corporate monsters are killing the American public for profit and it needs to be stopped, NOW!!

  12. Renee Baumgartner says:

Thank you so much for stepping forward against Monsanto. My head is still reeling over the fact
that a company can win a court battle over patent infringement when IT is the one doing the contaminating. Something is horribly wrong in the courts when I see that this is actually possible!

As a mother and paralegal student, I struggle everyday to keep up with the expense of organic food, and having to also know what products I can use that are safe. I should not have to work so hard to know what
food is genetically-modified and what food isn’t.

If you sell seed, I will be buying it from you.

Thank you again for stepping forward. If there is any field work that needs to be done, I would be glad to help.

    Ms. Baumgartner
